Peter Walker, President of M.A.N.S.A., has dedicated a decade of volunteer service to 3rd EyE Youth Empowerment, where he has served as a Program Manager and a passionate advocate for equitable arts programming and fair compensation for youth.
His commitment to fostering inclusive and accessible cultural experiences has made a significant impact on the community. Notably, Peter was appointed as the first ever Art Is Everywhere Project Manager following a substantial $50,000 grant awarded to 3rd EyE. This funding was earmarked for a city-wide campaign designed to highlight and celebrate the arts in less visible venues across the city, enriching the community’s cultural landscape and making the arts more accessible to all residents.
During his leadership of the Art Is Everywhere project, Peter adeptly navigated the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic by transitioning the program to virtual platforms. This shift allowed the initiative to continue showcasing local artistic talent while adhering to health and safety guidelines, thereby maintaining community engagement and support for the arts during a critical time. Under his guidance, the project collaborated with over 50 community partners, enhancing the reach and impact of the campaign significantly. Peter's effective management and innovative approach not only sustained but also expanded the arts programming during a period of unprecedented challenges. The team total efforts were recognized by the Human Rights Commission of New Bedford, which honored 3rd EyE with a Human Rights Award, a testament to the organization's significant contributions to promoting equality and accessibility in the arts under Peter's tenure.
